    I am a Computer Science and Mathematics senior at Dakota State. I love cheerleading, hanging out with my boyfriend, and creating with words whether that be through my research, short stories, blog posts, or tutorial articles.

    Joshua Frederico 

    Joshua Frederico, usually just going by “Josh”, was born at a young age to his parents some time ago, and is currently in his second year of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Operations with a minor in Center of Excellence in Information Systems, which so far has been entirely online. He comes from Montana, but is currently living in Bonners Ferry, Idaho where he build houses, hunts, does school, drives his truck around on dirt roads for no apparent reason, and sometimes emerges in the public to buy things. He also enjoys playing guitar or piano, reading biographies, spending time with his family, learning how to hack things, and, when subjected to sufficient physical force, produces an assortment of written material such as The Golden State.

    Rachel Bruntz considers herself a self-proclaimed word-smith/word nerd. She love reading and writing and considers books to be the quickest, and cheapest way to transport anywhere at any time. She writes poetry and various fiction to quiet the thoughts in her head.​

    I'm Archie and I'm a punk artist from Rapid City, SD. When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them I'm a part-time artist and a full-time disappointment.

    Carson Knecht

    Carson Knecht is ​a DSU student filmmaker and musician from Martin, South Dakota. He enjoys art, philosophy, and long walks on the beach.

    Casualene Meyer is a native of the Seattle area who now lives with her family in Madison, South Dakota.

    Jaclynn Rogers

    Jaclynn Rogers is an English for New Media student from Miller and Huron, SD. Set to graduate in May 2021, she is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, assistant editor of the Trojan Times, and vice president of Gaming Club. Jaclynn is passionate about Animal Crossing, snacks, and storytelling in all its forms.

    John Nelson

    John Nelson is a Professor of English for New Media  who began teaching at DSU in 1996 and who is retiring this year.  His poetry has been published in other places and his chapbook West River is available from the SD State Poetry Society.

    Travis Krakow is a junior at Dakota State University. He is an English for New Media major from Flandreau, SD. He is a member of the English Club. During this project Travis worked with the prose entries and distributed bookmarks for New Tricks. His hobbies include: cooking, baking, reading, and studying various periods of history.

    Angela Behrends

    Angela Behrends is the Assistant Professor of Art at Dakota State University. She believes that nature has more to teach us than we are prepared to hear or understand. Ms. B. tries really hard to listen. 

    Jane Utecht

    Jane Utecht is a communications coordinator at Dakota State University and an amatuer photographer. When she’s not busy telling DSU’s stories, you can find her kayaking on an area lake, taking photos of nature’s beauty, or playing piano.

    Joe Ren

    Joe Ren is a multimedia artist and educator. He is an assistant professor in Digital Arts and Design at Dakota State University. He is also a co-founder of Expose Art and an associate chair of the Executive Committee at the Association of Chinese Artists in American Academia (ACAAA). For the past few years, he has exhibited his artwork nationally and internationally in China, Sweden, Finland, South Korea, and America.

    Mateo Kirstine 

    Mateo Kirstine grew up in a small town in Nebraska, but was born in South Dakota. He’s a creator who’s always had a passion for stories and characters, but sometimes, a tree will do.

    Thomas M. Jones

    Thomas Jones has been teaching photography and computer graphics at DSU since 2000. He created the Photography Study Tour course in which students travel throughout the U.K. and Paris, France learning about photography and experiencing different cultures. Tom continually researches trends and incorporates them into his courses. He can often be seen with students taking photos at various DSU events encouraging and challenging the students to think beyond classroom assignments.

    Trudy Jones

    Trudy Jones is an artist and animator from Sioux Falls. She loves drawing all sorts of animals and fantasy creatures; if you see her drawing humans, she’s probably being forced to do so.
